TESTING & QUALITY ASSURANCE
Test with purpose.Build confidence.
From traditional software testing to evaluating AI-enabled applications: discuss the right manual and automated checks for your product, data, and risks.

PERSPECTIVE & POTENTIAL SCOPE
Consider softwarefrom every angle.
A good test plan reflects how the product is actually used. These areas cover a broad testing spectrum. Appropriate methods, environments, and depth are agreed individually for your project.
Functional testing & regression
Unit and component tests, smoke and sanity checks, system testing, and regression testing: review requirements, business rules, and existing functionality.
Integration, API & end-to-end
Review interfaces, API contracts, service integrations, and complete user journeys, including data flows, error cases, and system handovers.
Web, mobile & compatibility
Check browser, device, and operating-system compatibility, responsive interfaces, and visual regression. Include installation, upgrades, and mobile scenarios within the agreed scope.
Performance, load & scalability
Evaluate response times, load, stress, soak testing, and scaling limits against agreed scenarios. Target criteria and test environments are defined in advance.
Security & privacy controls
Review permissions, sessions, input validation, and handling of sensitive information. Security assessments and scoped penetration testing are only considered for expressly authorised systems under an agreed scope.
Accessibility & usability
Consider keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, contrast, and understandable journeys. WCAG-oriented checks may be agreed; no certification is promised.
Data, migration & localisation
Check data integrity, import and export, migrations, and language, date, and number formats. Agree appropriate synthetic or anonymised test data.
Reliability & recovery
Evaluate error handling, interruptions, restarts, backup/restore scenarios, and resilience within a defined test environment.
Acceptance, UAT & exploratory testing
Align business acceptance criteria, User Acceptance Testing, exploratory reviews, and agreed alpha and beta scenarios with realistic tasks.
Test automation & continuous QA
Agree the test strategy, automated suites, CI/CD integration, and traceable reporting. Consider maintainability, priorities, and the limits of automation.
AI TESTING / BEYOND TRADITIONAL CHECKS
AI needs clearevaluation criteria, too.
AI systems do not always behave deterministically. Alongside traditional software tests, representative examples, traceable evaluation criteria, and human review matter.
Answer quality & hallucinations
Assess correctness, relevance, unsupported claims, and handling of uncertainty against agreed example tasks.
RAG, retrieval & source grounding
Check retrieval quality, document coverage, citations, grounding, and access to approved information.
Model, prompt & regression tests
Compare changes to models, prompts, parameters, and system instructions using suitable evaluation datasets.
Robustness & AI safety
Investigate prompt injection, unwanted instructions, manipulated inputs, and protection boundaries in expressly authorised scenarios.
Bias, fairness & language coverage
Consider differences across relevant user groups, languages, and input variations. Document the evidence base and its limitations transparently.
Test data & information protection
Review data quality, possible disclosure of sensitive information, and access boundaries using appropriate, agreed test data.
AI agents & tool use
Evaluate tool calls, permitted actions, approvals, error handling, and human intervention in agentic workflows.
AI performance & operational behaviour
Consider latency, throughput, resource requirements, limits, and failure behaviour against the agreed requirements.
Image, speech & multimodal AI
Depending on the application, evaluate recognition, classification, transcription, or generated content against defined criteria and human judgement.
The AI testing areas below describe potential project scopes, not completed reference projects. Testability, suitable data, and specific methods must first be evaluated together.
Discuss a testing projectTESTING / COMMON QUESTIONS
Before the first test.
A possible starting point: choose a critical user journey, agree risks and evaluation criteria, and define a focused testing scope. Potential outputs include a test plan, reproducible findings, prioritised defect reports, and recommendations for further checks.
The actual testing scope is agreed individually. Testing can reveal risks but cannot guarantee defect-free software, complete security, or regulatory compliance.
